The Count Down!

Well, we have just a little time until going. The class has survived health scares and new diagnoses, final exams and getting papers in on time. Right now, your fearless leaders are busy grading, so it will all be done by Tuesday morning at 6:30 AM (bus leaves from Hauck Circle at 7:00 sharp!)

I must say I am a little nervous, but with Josh, James and Maisie to help out, I think we will be good to go. Some of you know that I had bilateral knee replacement surgery 2-1/2 years ago, which makes me a little slow, but, hey, it is so much better than having to navigate with a wheelchair, although that can be done, and IS done, by many people!

This is a dream for me - I have been in love with the ancient world all my life, have taught it since 1975, when I taught my first Latin class at the University of Iowa, and have never been to Greece! To be able to share this experience and to see it through the eyes not only of myself and of my colleagues Jay and Nancy, but through the eyes of the students who are going will be a wonderful thing.
